Since 2011, Dana Brody has served as Executive Managing Director for Commercial Asset Group’s multi-family division following four years with Grubb & Ellis Company where she was an Associate Vice President and the firm’s leading multi-family sales professional nationwide. Her practice, known as The Brody Real Estate Group, focuses on the exclusive listing and sale of multi-housing investment properties ranging in size from $2,000,000 to $30,000,000 across the Los Angeles Area, from Downtown to Santa Monica and from the San Fernando Valley to the South Bay. Dana is well known and has an excellent reputation with both owners and brokers for her work ethic, professionalism, high quality marketing materials and her ability to consistently break sales price records on every building she sells.
In 2013, CAG named Dana Broker of the Year for garnering the top sales in the company for that year. Dana was the #1 multi-family sales professional for Grubb & Ellis nationwide in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, Real Estate Southern California named Brody one of the “Top 30 Under 30” in commercial real estate. She was also chosen as one of C.R.E.W. Los Angeles’ “Women on the Rise” and was honored at their annual “Women at the Top” banquet. Dana was also a finalist in for the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Women Making a Difference” award in the category of Rising Star in both 2010 & 2011.
Recently, she sold 62 units as part of a three-property portfolio, a total sale valued at just under $6,000,000, located in the heart of the Hollywood re-development zone. Hired as the exclusive advisor, her responsibilities included creating all marketing materials, soliciting offers, negotiating with buyers and handling all aspects of the transaction from start to finish. In this case, a transaction considered challenging in today’s market was only further complicated by a required loan assumption that involved several hurdles to close, including re-calculated proceeds and last minute pay down penalties.
Dana began her commercial real estate career in 2003 at CB Richard Ellis under the tutelage of one of the foremost commercial brokers in Los Angeles, Laurie Lustig Bower. In her time there, Dana generated more than $75 million in sales transactions, including a 100 unit condo conversion project in Canyon Country that sold for more than $20,000,000.
Brody has written, or been quoted, on real estate issues in a number of publications, including The Los Angeles Times, The Los Angeles Business Journal, Bisnow, RenTV, RE Business Online, Western Real Estate Business and Real Estate Southern California. She is also a trusted advisor to many multi-housing appraisers, commercial real estate research firms and both regional and national banks.
